Birchbox - April 2014

Birchbox, the proverbial snowball that started the avalanche of subscription boxes, arrived this week after much anticipation. At $10 a month, if there is any subscription box to start with I would definitely recommend this one. Let's take a look at the goods:

Will it completely diminish the vision of my tough exterior if I admit how much I adore the bright pink box? Ah, well.
The whole matryoshka doll box within a box thing is typically not a hit with me but...
There's chevron print inside and a picture of raindrop cookies and I'm honestly enchanted. Obviously the theme of this month's box is "Rainy Days".
What a perfect idea. Sadly, no one ever wants to play Scrabble with me. Or anything trivia-based for that matter.
This was delicious. I squirreled it away in my purse and it came in handy when I forgot to bring lunch to work today. The sporadic bites of sea salt were so enjoyable that I legitimately when straight to Amazon post-snacking to order an entire box.
While the body wash was a nice and timely surprise, the color care shampoo was a blatant reminder that I need to dye my hair again. Decisions, decisions... do I go red again, or black?
This Sumita eyeliner applies like a dream. So perfectly smooth. The fragrance is not something I would have picked up on my own, but it's bright and unique and I think I'll give it a few days to see if it sticks with me.
I didn't calculate retail value for this box because it's clear from the cost of the full size items that it is well over the $10 price tag. On top of that, it's been a very long week and I did not feel like doing any more math. Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What samples did you get this month?
