Julep Maven - Boho Glam Welcome Box

Julep Maven is a monthly nail color and beauty product box that focuses on offering its customers a fully tailored but flexible experience. During initial sign-up each "maven" takes a quiz that funnels the maven into one of five style profiles. Every month showcases a separate box for each profile, and you can decide whether to order your box, one of the other boxes, or skip a month. The box is $19.99/month and features over $40 in product that is truly guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Other benefits to becoming a maven include free shipping and 20% off in the Julep online store.

I signed up in March and received my first box free plus I got to add up to 4 extra products to my order at an incredibly discounted rate. You can always choose to purchase additional items to ship with your box, and Julep also offers the opportunity to gift your monthly box to a friend instead without an increased cost to you. I can definitely see myself taking advantage of this service for occasions like my best friend's birthday.

My package arrived quickly, with no visible damage, and even had branded packing tape. If you haven't picked up on this in previous reviews, I have an almost obsessive love for attention to detail.

Cute, sturdy boxes - Julep's packaging is both pretty and practical.

The Mint Condition Pedi Creme was one of my additional products. Husband and I are pretty serious about our fitness and even with the right footwear my soles and heels tend to take a beating. I tried this product out almost immediately and loved it. The fresh scent was intoxicating, and it definitely soothed my poor feet.

My other extra product, Julep's signature Color Treat nail color in "Blakely". This is from their Bombshell collection, but it will suit me just right for those rare nights when I get to dress up and hit the town.

My Boho Glam Welcome Box continued the theme of lovely and impactful design with a sticker on the lid informing me of the benefits of being a maven.

The Nora Ephron quote on the card was definitely my favorite non-product feature of my first box. A large part of Julep's company philosophy focuses on empowering women and I think that message in particular beautifully reinforces that. I have the card in a prominent place on my desk at home right now, but once I'm settled in to my new position at work (yay promotion! Go me!) and have time to spruce up my cubicle I'll probably stick it in a cute frame and hang it. Oh - there's a 50% off coupon in that picture too, and anyone who tells you they don't love a good coupon is a big ol' liar.

If you happened to gloss over my entire review and decided to sign up for Julep Maven on the bright, branded advertising alone, fear not! This welcome booklet would explain the entire concept for you and highlight the very best among their signature products.

Look at these great products, nestled in their bed of springy shredded paper. I love this in packaging, but it does get everywhere. And then my cats love it. They love it right under the couch where it lurks, waiting to come back and haunt me when I rearrange the entire living room in a wild fit of energy. Don't worry, Julep! I still adore you and your packing material.

Nail Buffer Blocks. These are fairly self-explanatory, I would think.

Retail Value: $2

Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum. This came just in time. Normally I have no trouble at all with my cuticles, but I've been giving my hands a rough time of it lately getting some projects ready for Etsy. I don't have a good judgment yet on the longterm value of this, but in the short term it has worked wonders.

Retail Value: A whopping $28. This one item alone is well over the cost of the entire box which, let me remind you, I got for free since it was my first time signing up. Discoveries like this make the subscription box service as a general concept so worth it on a number of levels. Julep has given me incredible value for my money on this single product, and if I continue to see a benefit from it they can be assured it's something I will purchase on my own in future. Everyone wins.

My camera is awful, but pictured above is my first Boho Glam color duo: "Stevie" and "Michelle" respectively.

Retail Value: For non-mavens these babies are $14 a pop. Even with the 20% discount you'd be a few dollars over the cost of the box buying both.

Overall, I had a great first experience. I got spoiled from start to finish. Not to mention I spent about an hour on the site checking out all the gorgeous colors with their empowering names.
