Fancy Box - Women's Mystery Box - April 2014

Fancy Box is a lifestyle subscription box service that promises to curate unique, fresh items every month. For $39 + $7.95 US shipping, you get $80+ worth of merchandise. They offer an original Fancy Box, a Fancy Food Box, and several different celebrity curated boxes.

This month Fancy increased their Mystery Box size offerings, so I ordered a Women's Medium Mystery Box for $20 + shipping. 3 out of the 4 items were a hit! I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'll splurge for the larger box at $40. We'll have to see how much damage I do at Ikea next weekend.

FedEx squished the box... I wasn't a happy camper when I came home to see an accordion with a little hole in the top. Thankfully the one breakable item was packaged separately and came to no harm.

It looks a bit emptier than the previous box, but that doesn't mean it has a lower value.

This item will be very well-loved. I'm a bit of a tea freak so it's already sat at my desk waiting for first use. And yes, I'm that heathen who takes milk and sugar in her tea. Now you know.

This bad boy smells phenomenal. Candles don't last long in my house, so they are always a welcome find in a subscription box.

My nail polish addiction knows no bounds. This fantastic little set gives you all the tools needed for a UV-glow manicure. I don't know when I'll really find an occasion where this will get to shine, but I love it nonetheless.

Retail Value: $25

This was the one disappointment in the box. First, the cover is scuffed. Second, I'm a fairly no-nonsense girl who knows how to take care of herself. Third, I could go on for pages about the sexist nature of this book and how it promotes a kind of gender-conformism I just don't go in for. Yes, there are plenty of useful tidbits in this book but the crap far outweighs the decent parts.

Total Value: About $63.

The mug was the big winner for me in this box. I love the matte finish, and the bright pop of color from the tea infuser. Overall, another great box from Fancy.
